KeymasterHave you restarted Thunderbird twice after your Cardbook update?
It may be necessary to rule out cache issues.

KeymasterI’m not sure, but it may have to do with the fact that google creates new UUIDs for each contact stored there. I had this issue once … one has to wait a while until google is done with its alterations …
Chris
KeymasterIt’s fixed in 74.7 – thanks a lot Philippe! 🙂

KeymasterGood suggestion 🙂
Other fields could benefit from this feature too (Prefix, Suffix, Role, Title).
Chris
KeymasterAs far as I can tell from my own experience, the bold entries of an addressbook haven’t yet synced successfully with the server … you can try launching the sync manually, or wait for the regular sync (depending your own settings).
Chris
KeymasterRight-click your addressbook and chose Edit
Under “Miscellaneous” you can configure the Display name to whatever you desire 🙂
Chris
Keymasterseems you can post again here – happy to see that 🙂
Should you receive no notifications for replies in this thread, please read this.

KeymasterAnother reason why you don’t receive mails from this forum (and hence can’t properly register an account) could be that you are using an email-service run by Micro$oft. Could be hotmail, msn, outlook, live or whatever else they offer to the unsuspecting world …
Like Google, Micro$oft likes to introduce its own sets of rules in disrespect to established and standardised protocols, in the hope that either nobody notices, or eventually create so much nuisance and sufferance that their arbitrary rules eventually get integrated into international standards.
Anyways – Micro$oft mail-servers reject mails coming from this forum server, I couldn’t find out yet for what reason exactly. So the mails bounce and if you try to register here with such an email-address, you will never get a mail to change your password, nor any other notifications from this server.
In conclusion: better use a mail-provider that sticks to the standards.
Edit: seems that forum mails to M$ mailboxes do get through if there has been a mail sent to the server from the concerned mailbox before. So if you really have no better address and want to register here, send me mail first (Click this link), and only then register to the forum.

KeymasterCall it bug or feature 😆
These categories are Google specific – I think they can’t even be changed there. Many things in Google are not according to official specs, these 3 “categories” are part of it.
Best just ignore them – or create your own categories with similar names that will then also be synchronised in Cardbook.

KeymasterHi 🙂
It’s actually the other way round – the addressbook should be in the Synology and then sync with cardbook in Thunderbird (and other devices, eventually).
This is a client-server relation, and cardbook can be a client only.
Maybe you have used a different server until now, without being aware? Like gmail, or Nextcloud? Or is your addressbook only local in cadbook?
Please tell us more about your setup, so that we can help.
Cheers

KeymasterCan’t confirm this – same TB and CB versions.
I have contacts with 10 numbers and can still add more.
What is your server exactly?
Chris
Chris
KeymasterIn fact, what is advisable here is to import your existing TB addressbook into a cardbook addressbook. You have this option when creating a new addressbook.
Then you sync your new addressbook with your server, and never look back to the TB (useless) addressbook.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you have further questions!

KeymasterA field for “date of creation”, sortable, would indeed be very nice

Chris
KeymasterYou have to set-up a new Google addressbook with Cardbook, of course. Anything in the original TB addressbook is ignored.
Once your Google addressbook is set up in Cardbook, it will sync, no problem.

KeymasterI can confirm this behaviour from my side (although I never stumbled upon it yet by myself).

Merry Easter days everybody 🙂
