      Hi,
I’m using cardbook with Thunderbird and syncing to a Nextcloud (Owncloud) server. I have been experiencing problems with Vcard version 4.0,  (specifically contact photos don’t sync) so I set preferred Vcard version to 3.0 in cardbook preferences. However when I create a new card in cardbook, it is still created as Version 4.0, and I lose data.

If I use Thunderbird Config Editor and manually change the string of extensions.cardbook.cardCreationVersion from 4.0 to 3.0 that works. So it seems that cardbook is not writing this value to Thunderbird config correctly?

I can confirm this behaviour – same here (also with Nextcloud).

edit the address book properties to change the default property for default vCard version… works ?

Nope – default is set on ver3, new contact is created in v4 :-S

Like spotthedog, I had set it to ver4 previously and ended up with problems, then I changed the setting back to ver3. But new contacts still get created in ver4 …

works for me… there are two points :

1/ default version in CardBook preferences (which is almost not used)

2/ default version in address book properties

are you sure you talk on 2/ ?

I didn’t even know that an addressbook has properties  … 😀

Also I don’t know where to find these – can you explain pls?

right click on Address Book, then Edit Properties

Aaaaaaaaaah – well hidden! And in German, it doesn’t say “Einstellungen” (which I would expect for “properties”), but “Adressbuch bearbeiten” …

Anyways – it does the trick, and new addresses are now in the desired format ver3. Many thanks for the clarification!
