      Hi,

I migrated from Thunderbird v60 to v68 and installed manually CardBook v36.7 but all existing addressbooks were gone.

It is not possible to connect for a new adressbook to my owncloud server. The server has a url like https://pathtoserver:1234/remote.php/dav/addressbooks/users/name/addressbook/.

Trying a new addressbook the verication with username + password fails. Is there a solution?

      Thanks in Advance

We use Thunderbird / CardBook with NextCloud. If we use the version <37.5 the URL is:

      https://cloud.name.de/remote.php/dav/addressbooks/users/name/contacts/

With the version 45.1 of Cardbook we get an error message – approximately like you.

      If we use these URL:

      https://cloud.name.de/remote.php/dav/addressbooks/users/name/

there is no error message and we have contact with the database.

      Maybe this helps you further.

      Hi Wupperjunge,

      If we use these URL:

      https://cloud.name.de/remote.php/dav/addressbooks/users/name/

there is no error message and we have contact with the database.

many thanks. It works – until the next shutdown of Thunderbird and starting it againt. Furthermore the sidebar which shows events and tasks crashes with CardBook 45.1. No way to use CardBook at this moment.

That’s the same problem as described here: https://cardbook.icu/forum/forums/topic/the-cardbook-data-from-version-41-5-disappears/

With a new profile, there is no longer an error. Under these conditions the software runs perfect.

But a new profil is a lot of work !! And the old Version of CardBook worked perfect.

I think the problem is in the area of cookies. When I delete these entries

      user_pref("network.cookie.cookieBehavior", 2);
      user_pref("network.cookie.prefsMigrated", true);
      user_pref("network.cookie.same-site.enabled", false);

in the prefs.js file, Thunderbird displays the old address books and I can work very well locally and I can create new addresses.

But unfortunately changes are not transferred to the cloud server.

I’ve difficulties to understand how cookies may block the indexedDB database which contains CardBook cache…

if you have errors with Nextcloud these might be others issues… does Lightning work ?

Is it possible that the error message “SecurityError: The operation is insecure. cardbookIndexedDB.js:30” is a consequence of https / ssl? Or the result of DNT ≙ Do Not Track-Bit?

And to Lightning: The same as “hellweg116” writes: NextCloud und Lightning works fine with Thunderbird 68.0!

In the meantime, I have 3 installations in each Virtual Maschine:

      1. Thunderbird 60.9.0 / CardBook 37.6

CardBook 37.6 with NextCloud-Server works very well!

      2. Thunderbird 60.9.0 / CardBook 37.6 with Update to Thunderbird 68.0 / CardBook 41.5

CardBook 41.5 doesn’t work with the NextCloud-Server. See above!

TbSync 2.4 with Provider for CalDAV & CardDav 1.3: The program works excellent and copy the NextCloud data into the default address book of Thunderbird – without any problem.

      3. New installation of Thunderbird 68.0

Step 1: Lightning to NextCloud = Lightning 68.0 with NextCloud-Server works very well!

Step 2: CardBook 41.5 installation by file. CardBook 41.5 doesn’t work with the NextCloud-Server = 503-error. See above!

      Same issue with ZCS server…

Maybe this information helps (TB 68.0, cardbook 4.51):

upon configuration (first run, abook displayed):

TypeError: db is undefined 176 cardbookIndexedDB.js:86:22

after restart (second run, abooks gone):

SecurityError: The operation is insecure. cardbookIndexedDB.js:30
      openDB chrome://cardbook/content/cardbookIndexedDB.js:30
      notify chrome://cardbook/content/ovl_init.js:180

I was not able to reset profile (indexedDB etc), so I finally created a new profile. Here cardbook worked for a while (i.e. abooks were present even after restarts), but after further profile migration (added more e-mail-accounts, calendars etc.) it ended up with the same issue.

Currently downgraded to TB 60.0.9 with CB 37.6.

I can confirm that on a fresh installation of Thunderbird 68.0 connecting to a NextCloud 16.0.4:

      • Lightning works fine with multiple calendars
      • Cardbook shows 503 errors and does not validate the URL

      What I found looking around:

Hopefully the link to the Lightning patch helps to fix things in Cardbook too? Or is it a different thing now?

      Hi all

I need the server logs telling why it gives a 503 response… is anyone able to provide me such logs ?

    • #2703

Just checked the (nginx) server logs for cardbook access. However, from the logs there is no difference to tell between the requests from Thunderbird CardBook/41.5 Lightning/68.0 (known issue) and Thunderbird CardBook/37.6 Lightning/6.2.9 (working): a couple of PROPFIND and REPORT, all resulting in a 207 (not a single 503).

But as mentioned before: server communication and cardbook worked well (even after several restarts address books remained) until additional e-mail accounts were added to the Thunderbird profile.

OK, here are some installation details:

      Version 1 (32Bit):

Upgrade from the old Thunderbird version 60.9.0 to Thunderbird 68.1. Next step update ADD-ONs.

Lightning’s calendar (Lightning 68.1.0) and CardBook (Ver. 42.0) work stable and without problems and after a restart of Thunderbird all address books (from Cardbook) [local + Nextcloud] are available.

      Version 2 (64Bit):

First I uninstalled the old version of TB and I delete:

      ..AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\
      ..AppData\Local\Thunderbird\

      manually by hand.

      New Thunderbird-Installation 68.1.0 (64Bit) on Windows 10.

      Install of following ADD-ONs.

      – Send later button, Ver 1.5.2 by Alexander Ihrig
      – Allow HTML Temp, Ver 5.7.3 by Alexander Ihrig
      – CardBook, Ver 42.0 by Philippe V. with a local address book and a cloud address book on NextCloud 16.0.4.
      – ConfigDate Ver. 0.9.5 by Alexander Ihrig
      – Emoji Ver 1.68.1 by Michael Ganss
      – Ennigmail Ver 2.1.2 by Patrick Brunschwig
      – ImportExportTools NG Ver 4.0.3 by Christopher Leidigh
      – Lightning 68.1.0 from Mozilla Calendar Project with a cloud calendar on NextCloud 16.0.4.

      Manual installation of 5 mail-accounts.

Manual transfer of the old mail-data (19,9 GB ) from the 32-bit version to the new 64-bit version.

Lightning 68.1.0 and CardBook 42.0 runs stable and without any problems with my NextCloud 16.0.4.

      Hi,

thank you all for your hints and time. I tried this one (instead of removing my whole profile with many accounts and settings): on the same machine under another account I could install Thunderbird 68.1/64-Bit and added some email-accounts and calendars (ownCloud).

Then came CardBook 42: the addressbooks seem to be stable after a restart but the sidebar with calendar and tasks shows always rubbish. More exactly: the sidebar-calendar doesn’t work but the tasks were shown right.

Any ideas? It would be great, thanks in advance!

A few weeks later cardbook 42.4 (Thunderbird 68.1.2 / 64Bit) does not really work better at this point: the sidebar-calendar sometimes shows rubbish but the tasks were shown right.

In the meantime Thunderbird was completely new installed, a new profile which was much work to do. Cardbook sometimes works right, sometimes with wrong shown sidebar-calendar and a changed tab-order (I prefere the order mail, calendar, tasks, cardbook). Sometimes a new start of thunderbird fix it mostly it does not. And there seams to be no system with this bug.

      Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It is me again, sorry. But now there are similar problems not only with Thunderbird 68 / Cardbook 42.9 but also using Thunderbird 60.0.9.0 (64-Bit) and CardBook v38.

Synchronisation of contacts on an ownCloud-Server fails while Lighning’s calendar works with the same server-connection. It is also not possible to create a new addressbook.

The ownCloud-Server seems to work right for I can connect using Evolution (a Linux PIM) and create adressbooks and calendars and synchronise them.

      Any ideas or hints?

      Hi,

and thanks for the link. It needed some time

      • to find the right file “Plugin.php” – located at my ownCloud installation at lib/composer/sabre/dav/lib/CardDAV/Plugin.php
      • to understand that I have to remove 3 lines somewhere at line 689 and add there 5 lines (see https://github.com/sabre-io/dav/pull/1191/files)
      • and finally restart apache

If this is a bug (in SabreDAV), it should be fixed by the way above. It is now possible again, to add addressbooks or synchronise contacts.
