Edit window – modal mode is not helpful

When adding a new contact to cardbook from an email, it becomes very difficult to add more detail to the contact from the mail, because the editing window of cardbook is modal and doesn’t allow to return to the email to copy the information needed.

The email-address is taken over alright when adding a new contact from an email, but oftentimes there is more information in the mail that should be entered, like phone-numbers or an address. At this stage, this requires frequent opening and closing of the contact, which would not be the case if the editing window would allow to return to Thunderbird.

What is the reason for this design, and could it be changed?

the reason is that I don’t want a pending modification if a sync happens… but as this do not completely prevent this case, I have to rethink about this …
