I would like to have the person name and the company when I’m selecting an address on the address window of Thunderbird message editor.

The default display format is, let’s say, John Doe Company. On some countries, and with peculiar company names, this might be confusing as the person could really have the family name “Company”.

So, what I did was changing the format to:

      ({{1}} |)({{2}} |)({{3}} |)({{4}} |)({{5}} |)({{6}} |)(* {{7}}|)

which inserts an asterisk between the name and company.

But then, if the contact doesn’t have names, just the Organization name, then the display is “* Company”, which ruins the sort order.

I then tried detecting if all the factors before the Organization are empty by grouping the whole block with:

      (({{1}} |)({{2}} |)({{3}} |)({{4}} |)({{5}} |)({{6}}|)* |)({{7}}|)

but it doesn’t work, which is a pitty.

So, is there a way to solve my problem, please?

      I haven’t found a solution… yes this is something to improve…

Thank you for your care and reply.

I agree it would be a nice feature to have, but not mission-crytical. I’ll get by with the default format for now.
