I successfully created a new Cardbook address book and synced it with my Nextcloud account. Everything went fine.

But then a problem appears. When I shut down Thunderbird and restart, the new address book I created disappears. A “Contacts” address book remains (it has a different name from the address book I created), but when I try to sync that, nothing happens. The log says contacts have already been retrieved from cache.

I have tried removing the Cardbook addon and reinstalling. The same thing happens as above. I also tried deleting files in .thunderbird/profile.default/storage/permanent/

When I check the Cardbook sync preferences before setting up a new address book, my nextcloud account is already listed even though I removed Cardbook. I don’t know how to check the settings for that account.

      My setup:

MX Linux 18.3 (I just installed this, replacing Ubuntu 18.04. I kept my Home partition. I did have Cardbook on Ubuntu. I didn’t use it long enough to know whether it worked or not.)

      Thunderbird 52.9.1 (64-bit)

      Cardbook 36.9

Log excerpt after creating a new address book and successfully syncing:

2019.07.10 23:04:12:202 : Gwyn : Contact Jeff Peters downloaded from server
2019.07.10 23:04:12:204 : Gwyn : debug mode : Contact Jeff Smith added to display

Log after closing Thunderbird and reopening Thunderbird:

      2019.07.10 23:07:08:878 : Database error : undefined
      2019.07.10 23:07:08:878 : Undo Database error : undefined
      2019.07.10 23:07:10:242 : All contacts : debug mode : cardbookRepository.cardbookComplexSearchRequest : (new Number(1))
      2019.07.10 23:07:10:242 : All contacts : debug mode : cardbookRepository.cardbookComplexSearchResponse : (new Number(1))
2019.07.10 23:07:10:248 : Contacts : Address book opened [this is not the address book I created and synced with Nextcloud]

      Once I got this:

      2019.07.10 19:06:04:124 : cardbookRepository.addCardToRepository error : TypeError: cardbookRepository.cardbookAccountsCategories[aDirPrefId] is undefined
2019.07.10 19:06:04:124 : Gwyn : Contact Didier Ash downloaded from server
      2019.07.10 19:06:04:126 : cardbookRepository.addCardToRepository error : TypeError: cardbookRepository.cardbookAccountsCategories[aDirPrefId] is undefined

Log after unsuccessfully trying to sync the address book that remains after the one I created has gone:

2019.07.10 22:36:57:046 : Gwyn : Contact Martin Donald already retrieved from cache

your indexedDB database is now corrupted in your Thunderbird profile (this happens when you downgrade from Thunderbird 60, for example)… so the only solution is to use a new profile with running “thunderbird.exe -p”

Thanks!! Instead of creating a new profile, I upgraded Thunderbird to version 60. Suddenly all my address books are back!! Everything seems fine.

      Appreciate your help

      Gwyn
